I visited the South Bank Centre for the Light Show exhibition at the Hayward Gallery today. I'm sure that it is well-known to all art lovers out there. For those who don't know, it's a show case that gathers all light sculptures and installations from 22 different artists. I really enjoyed the experience and would recommend anyone who are in London to come. It's even great for little kids! It would make a total perfect family outing. Unfortunately you can't take photos in there, so I hope a picture of the gallery's main entrance does it! Sorry!
My favourite is a work by Carlos Cruz-Diez. The way he combines light and colours then turned them into something so beautiful, it's just amazing. I felt like I was in a wonderland, like a kid again. Sorry, I'm giving pretty naive feedback here but I don't know how else to explain it. Diez's piece was also a famous kid's attraction of the exhibition so I guess it's forgivable to make a naive statement? Haha. One of the best parts of exhibition is the gift store, they sell quirky cute things, from books about light to bizarre looking lamps. Some items can be overpriced, but they are still fun to check out!
Due to it's high popularity, you are required to do a booking before hand. You can do this by going on the South Bank Centre's website and search for the Light Show(It should be on the main page). I would recommend you picking up your ticket at the venue instead of choosing for them to send it home , since it's not guaranteed to be arriving on time for your visit. The show starts from 30th January-6th May, so you'd have plenty of time to go with different groups of friends and pay an extra round visit if you like. If any of you decided to go, you can upload your photos on Instagram and hashtag "animuax" I'd love to check them out! :D
I hope you all had a nice day! xo
